New Venue and New Time in 2010
The current GRW Board has worked hard over the past year to bring you a year of great change for 2010. We’re excited to announce our move to the quaint and charming city of Decatur. Our host hotel will be the Holiday Inn Conference Center, located right in the downtown Decatur area. The board researched and looked at hotels downtown, on the west side, on the south side, and found that the best location was right in midst of Decatur, a town that has a MARTA station in its belly, a lively nightlife, and strong literary leanings, as hosts of the nationally renowned Decatur Book Festival. Georgia Romance Writers will now be part of that tradition.
Along with greener ways to come to the meeting, we’ve lowered the fee to $7.00, more green for you. And if you choose to drive, that fee includes covered, secured parking. The parking lot has an elevator that pops you out right next to the meeting rooms – no more umbrellas on wet days.
We’ve also moved the meeting to an earlier time, to allow everyone to leave the hotel for lunch with friends or critique groups at many of the low cost and fun places to eat that are within walking distance. Coffee, juice, bagels and pastries will be available buffet-style at the beginning of the meeting. We look forward to seeing you in 2010!
Meetings are held in the Holiday Inn and Conference Center in Decatur, GA, unless otherwise noted. Meetings begin at 9:00 a.m. with a continental breakfast and the “Ask a Published Author” segment. Following each meeting, GRW authors (to be announced each month) will sign copies of their latest books, sponsored by Eagle Eye Book Shop.
While we normally meet on the third Saturday of every month, due to hotel availability and other considerations, this may vary.
