Welcome

Georgia Romance Writers, a chapter of ROMANCE WRITERS OF AMERICA®, is made up of approximately 200 serious, professional writers, nearly one-third of whom are multi-published in book length fiction.

A non-profit organization, we are dedicated to bringing quality women’s fiction to the market. Our mission is to promote high quality romance writing; to disseminate information regarding all aspects of the romance genre; and to give support and encouragement to members.

GRW was founded in 1982, held its first regional conference the same year, and has grown steadily ever since. But the heart and soul of GRW are its members who reach out to every writer who is dedicated to his or her craft.

This is the professional textbook description of GRW, but those who know it best will tell you that GRW is a “happening place” where the diligent succeed and that success is revered and celebrated by all.

We are friends and we care.

Come join us and share in that joy.

Creativity Killers: How to Catch ’Em, How to Cuff ’Em

You know their names: Procrastination, Perfectionism, Lack of Confidence, Distraction. But you can’t seem to get control of these nefarious creativity killers. Sometimes they sneak in when you’re least expecting to be robbed of your mojo. Sometimes you open the front door and invite them in to grab all your creative goodies. Heck, sometimes they move in and try to kick you out. Doesn’t matter how good your locks and alarm system are… These dastardly villains find a way to creep inside your creative space.

But once you recognize their disguises and tricks, you can wipe out these clever criminals before they kill your creativity for good.

Join USA Today bestseller Kelsey Browning as she talks you through how to recognize emotional and self-management creativity killers and offers strategies to chase them away from your creative work.

USA Today bestselling author Kelsey Browning writes sexy contemporary romance, romantic suspense, and humorous Southern women’s fiction with a sprinkling of mystery. Her Georgia-set, co-authored G Team Series is described by readers as “The Golden Girls meet Dirty Harry.” Her single title romances garner reviews that call her writing funny, sassy, and full of sizzling chemistry

Through her company, Kicksass Creations, she teaches and speaks on the topics of creativity and productivity for creative entrepreneurs. She’s a co-founder of Romance University blog, one of Writer’s Digest 101 Best Websites for Writers.

Originally from a Texas town smaller than the ones she writes about, Kelsey has also lived in the Middle East and Los Angeles, proving she’s either adventurous or downright nuts. These days, she makes her home in Athens, Georgia, with her tech-savvy husband, her smart-talking son, a rescue dog from Qatar, and a (fingers crossed) future therapy pup.

SMART-R Goals Produce Results

How many times have you started project with the end in mind only to discover you’re not reaching your monthly word count, or you needed to research an aspect of the story, or social media is getting in the way of everything?

In the SMART-R Goals workshop, writers learn to dig deep and break down a goal into related parts to reap rewards. Maybe there’s more than one goal on a project that needs to be defined. The workshop is designed to demonstrate to writers how to identify goals, how to measure the progress of each, determine if a goal is attainable, realistic, timely, and then set up an appropriate reward to celebrate success.

Use of a worksheet will assist writers in capturing the information needed in a thoughtful and organized fashion while providing a visual for reference.

Writers sometimes find it useful to gather a few friends and create a goal group to support each other in the pursuit of goals.

Linda_Joyce_0342Linda Joyce is an award-winning author who writes about assertive females and the men who can’t resist them. Her Fleur de Lis series: Bayou Born, Bayou Bound, Bayou Beckons are all RONE Award Finalists, as well as Her Heart’s Desire, book one of her Sunflower series. Bayou Bound received 1st Place in Romance from Southeastern Writer’s Association and Bayou Beckons was awarded Best of Contemporary Women’s Fiction in 2015 by Authors on the Air.

A big fan of jazz and blues, Linda attributes her love of those musical genres to her southern roots, which run deep in Louisiana. If you walk-through several New Orleans cemeteries you’ll find many of her people buried there. Of course, being a southerner, she loves farm-to-table southern food.

Linda penned her first manuscript while living in Japan, the country where her mother was born and raised. Her teacher discovered pages and pages during recess, and then demanded a special parent-teacher conference, something every military dependent child fears. Her teacher insisted the subject matter was too mature—romance. Linda’s mother insisted the teacher should be pleased to have a dedicated student. Linda’s father returned and said the conference was a waste of his time and the teacher ought to be grounded.

Now she lives in Atlanta with her husband and a Brittany Spaniel, General Beauregard, who, after fourteen years, still thinks she’s his pet.
