March Meeting

The Memorial Gin Ellis Workshop

March is a special meeting in the GRW calendar as published authors volunteer their time to help our unpublished members polish their manuscripts. GRW members wishing to participate in the workshop must submit their manuscript and entry form no later than February 20th. Click here for the 2017 Gin Ellis Workshop Entry Form.

Writing An Emotional Synopsis
Synopsis writing is dreaded by many from novice to seasoned writer. Are you one of those who feel like your synopsis is a play-by-play of events, or worse, sounds like a dry book report? This method of constructing a synopsis will free you from the humdrum details, the long descriptions of who did what and why. Two published authors will show you how to take the emotional beats of a romance manuscript and construct a synopsis in six easy steps which will result in favorable comments from agents and editors.

Susan Carlisle’s love affair with books began when she made a bad grade in math in the sixth grade. Not allowed to watch TV until she brought the grade up, Susan filled her time with books. She turned her love of reading into a love of writing romance. If the hero is a smart, sexy alpha male, he can be found in her books along with a strong heroine that captures his heart.

She leads workshops on many writing subjects. In her past life, she has been a full time mother to four children, a high school substitute teacher and now when Susan isn’t writing she is busy being a fun grandmother. She lives near Atlanta, Georgia, with her husband of over thirty years. Susan loves castles, traveling, cross-stitching and reads voraciously. Visit her at www.SusanCarlisle.com

dsc_0039a_med_szCarol Burnside is an award-winning author of “sizzling romance with heart and humor.” Her second-chance-at-love story with her high school sweetheart cemented her belief in a deep and lasting love, and serves as inspiration for every romance she writes while the ever-present glass of sweet tea keeps her energized through long hours at the computer. Although she’s a native Texan, her Sweetwater Springs series of contemporary, small town romances with serious sizzle and a generous dose of southern charm is based in her current home state of Arkansas.

Also published in short stories, Carol’s novel length manuscripts have placed in numerous contests and won several, including the prestigious Maggie Award for Excellence. Writing as Annie Rayburn, she produces genre-blended erotic romances.
